Black Gold, Hair extensions - Reflection

Today, I have been reading an article about Black,Gold hair extensions. I find this article quick interesting and I would like to learn/more about this article.

WALA: events that happen around the world.

I find this article very interesting how women are getting there hair cut/shaved off and sold to people or put in salons as hair extensions. I also find this article interesting that lots of the women they have been mentioned  in the article don't really care about having extensions glued/taped/woven into there roots, But they know about some of the consequences they have toward having them, And knowing that they are wearing someone else's hair but they just don't think about it like they don't think about the cow when they eat a burger. At is all the same thing. But also I find this very upsetting that there are women and girls that are getting there hair cut off, being focused by there parents so they are able to get payed, yes they need the money but cutting of your children's hair isn't a very nice thing to do to anyone especially hen they don't want there hair cut, when theses girls look in the mirror and see that they don't have the hair they you'd to have they cry and it isn't fair for anyone to go through things like this.

In all story, texts and article there is a purpose, and for every purpose there is a reason.
I think the authors purpose of this article is to let women know that there are things in the world that can make you happy, physically and emotional. There are things that can make you feel normal and make you feel like no one is going to judge you for what you are, what you wear, the types of things you eat, the type of people you hang out with, because when you really think about it the only reason people are selling hair, and people are buying the hair for extensions is to make them feel good and if they want and have hair extensions you should judge them for there chooses they are feeling comfortable in there own skin and if they are wanting to get surgery or get hair extensions let them  get it, just encourage them and be on there side.
But I also think the authors purpose of this article is to let people know that it isn't fair for young girls to get there her cut/shaved of under the focus of there parents, it isn't fair they are being focused to do something they don't want to do.

In China there is high demands towards getting your cut/shaved and sold to people or salons, but why do I think there is such high demands for hair and that is what I will be  telling you today. I think there are such high demands for hair because hair can be very valuable if you know a lot about hair.
For example: virgin hair, that which has never been dyed, straightened or blow-wave, is so valuable it's called Black Gold and because of this when buying the hair as extensions it will been very expensive. Most hair extensions cost up to $700 to $2000. The longer and thicker, the better and higher the price. I also think there is is such high demands because there a different types of hair and different hair cost different price but the prices that are set to be sold as isn't a cheap cost. The regular cost of hair is $700 to &2000 but the more valuable hair can cost up to $2000 to $7000 if you are trying to get extra volume and added length.

Society would be different if it wasn't in demand, people would usually say that society is unrealistic but it's only because people don't understand that enormous consequences they would have our society. If that doesn't make people change there minds, something new with take over or come in. But if society were to change because it wasn't in demand, everything will changed. People will understand things less. People will know less about the society and the world. If Society were to change because it wasn't in demand, life would be poorly, people will learn things poorly. So many find society as unrealistic and fake because they aren't understanding the demands, rules and information that comes with it, and because of the information rules, and demands that come with it some people are able to understand the information that is given and it will just make society a better place for everyone.

Te Reo - Reflection

Today I have created a document explaining some questions I will have to answer. So what I am reflecting on is a serves that I have filled out about using Te Reo Maori in schools and at home.

WALT: create a DLO, showing some questions and answers towards a serves that we filled ut about speaking Te Reo Maori at school, at home and in the community.

What is Te Reo? And what does it mean in your own words.

Te Reo is a language that is mostly spoken in New Zealand, Which is the Maori Language. Because a lot of people don't speak Maori much it will soon die. But that is why parents and teachers are starting to teach and encourage their children and other people to learn and teach them so that the Maori would exist for another 100 years... In my own words Te Reo means the language. The language that is spoke by different people, by different cultures but most likely to be spoken by Maori people. The official language of New Zealand is Te Reo Maori, New Zealand Sign Language and English.

What percentage of people speak Maori now vs how many people spoke Maori 100 years ago?

In 2016, the percent of people that speak Maori lost about 80% of the language has been lost and the percentage of people that spoke Maori 100 years ago was 95%. Towards theses percentages there has been a very big change and not a lot of people speak it that much. Thats is why people should start teach their kids the language or maybe in 100 years the language will no longer exist and there might be a new language that will take over the Maori Language.

How many languages die every week? And how does this happen?

From research and several websites that I have looked at says that One Language dies every 14 days. And there is roughly 7,000 languages spoken in the world. A percent of the time the languages is when the last language speaker dies, 30% of the languages in the world are currently losing speakers or are more seriously endangered. Most of theses have never been recorded and so would be lost forever. And about 50% of the languages spoken today will disappear in the next 100 years. Some even argue that up to 90% of today's languages will have disappeared by 2115.

What are the 3 official languages in New Zealand and in the World?

The 3 official languages that are spoken in New Zealand is English, New Zealand Sign Language and Te Reo Maori. Theses languages have been official for a very long time. English and Maori. But there has been several changes over the years.

Why is speaking Maori important?

Speaking Maori is important because it is a language that is spoken by a lot of people and has been around for over 30,000 years. Having the language still exist means so much to the people who are Maori, Because the Maori culture is in there blood and deserve to keep the language in the country they live in.

In the future, what do you believe will be the main languages spoken around the world. Why do you think that?

I think the main languages that will be spoken around the world will be probably still English, Asian and maybe Indian. I don't really have a reason to why I think this. Maybe because there is a lot of people that speak theses languages and just because you're not the culture doesn't mean you can learn a new language. Because in the world a lot of countries and people speak english but don't you think it will be cool if you were able to speak different language that is kinda difficult to learn.

S.S.R. 16.11.16

Today I have created a drawing explaining an article that I have been reading about, I find this article very interesting and I would love to know more about what is happening in the world.

WALT: respond to an article we have been reading about.

Is Sports Sexist?

Kia Ora Guys, So today I have created this drawing explaining 'Is Sports Sexist?' So I got a lot of my information from the article given, but there are still more questions that I need to know more about.

WALT: write a reflection on what we have read about Sexism.

Is Sports Sexist

Today I have been reading about an article about Is Sports Sexist?
I do find that sports is sexist not only in women's sports but in all sports.

The captain of the All Blacks is Kieran Read who had currently been captain of the All Blacks nine times in his 84 tests.

Also the captain of the Black Ferns is Fiao’o Fa’amausili. And has been captain of the Black Ferns since 2015

In my family, we play and watch lots of sports. We play with a lot of our family and sports mean a lot to all of us. THe most popular sports we play is Rugby, Netball and Touch.

We love to watch Rugby online and on our TV and our favourite team is the NZRL aka the All Blacks . And we also like to watch Touch online and on our T.V but we don’t have a favourite team. And for Netball we don’t really like watching the sport, we only like to play it.

Sexism is something a lot of people do towards sports men and women play. But do you know what it means and what it is. Sexism means stereotyping and discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sexual behaviour. Sexism in language is an offensive reminder of the way the culture sees woman.

Are you aware of sexism in sports? If so describe an example.

Yes I am aware of sexism in sport because there are women who have claimed that they have been getting offended by en that are watching them play the sport.
For an example: Two men, were whistling at women that were playing netball, Theses men weren’t watching the women use their skills as they played, they watched the women jump and run about, in a sexual point of view. But I don’t only feel like sexism happens to women, Sometimes it could happen to men.

People say that you should always support your country yet there’s barely any support for New Zealand females teams over the social media and the TV. Why do you think that is?

Are there sports that are sexist towards males?
I don’t think there are sports sexist towards males because most of the sexist behaviour has been caused by males. And also men don’t find that the sports they are playing are sexist in anyway possible.

How do you rate a movie? - Reflection

How do you rate a movie?

WALT: reflect on the question we were given with the article we being reading.

In so many movies they contain bad language and scene that shouldn’t be shown to children. But because there are ratings on them it doesn't mean they will listen and not watch the movie.
So I will be answering some questions from the article.

Why do movies have ratings, why do you have to be a specific age to be able to watch a horror film.
We have movie rating because there are a lot of movies that people love to watch but might not be appropriate for younger audiences, because there could be bad language or inappropriate language used in the movies. There could be language that adults may use that aren’t meant for children.
They should have ratings because there could be themes shown, that are only meant for adults. For example nudity, adult themes and even drug use.

There are many reasons to why we should have age ratings. So what I am trying to explain is should we have age ratings and will it work and stop children that are under age.
In my opinion I say yes, because we need to be careful with what people should watch and if it is appropriate for children my age, i there are movies someone is currently watching. And because of the things they might be watching they might use what they have seen in the street or in school.
In my opinion I do not know how this will work because people don’t listen to what people say or what it may say on the back off the movie case or box.

There are so many variety of movies I like to watch, like horror and crime movies.
If I were to be able to ban a type of movie it will have to be Romance, not Film-Noir,Just Romance because there are something’s they do that a lot of people don’t like to see in movies but this is just my opinion.

There is lots of varieties of languages, not the cultural language the everyday language we use everyday to communicate with the people around us. There is one type of language that half of the world uses which is bad language, Bad language is when someone involves swearing or inappropriate things  into a conversation or in a movie or story.
And because of the bad language people are using in the movies child are using that same language outside on the streets or at school. But then there are some children that are using bad language because they are trying to fit in, or are learning bad language from family member at home or from their friends.

All over the world there are varieties of punishments that are happening at schools because of some of the things that they aren’t supposed to use at school. And what I want to answer is that, Should teachers punish students for using bad language at school.

In my opinion I say No and Yes. Firstly No because teachers shouldn’t be allowed to punish students because of the types of languages they are using, And they should just tell the parents that they are using bad language at school when they shouldn’t because it is part of rules.

Teachers shouldn’t be getting involved when students are using bad language at school, because of the punishment they may give them may not stop from using bad language at school in front of teachers and students. And secondly Yes because teacher school be stopping students from using language that isn’t allowed to be said to students or teacher. Teachers shouldn’t be giving the hash punishments, but punishments that will stop them from using that type of language toward a conversation with people.

Would you survive? Reflection

So Today I have completed my work from yesterday which was about an article call Would You Survive?? and the article is by Kayla Prendergast. I find this article very interesting and  hope you enjoy what I had put together.

WALT: write a reflection including your answers to the questions at the end of the article.

Today I have read a  article called Would You Survive by Kayla Prendergast. And this article is about a school named  St Paul’s Collegiate, that has a camp which happens twice a year where a group of 14 year old year 10 boys go on a five month camp with any technology with them or devices, Whether You bring your devices or not there is no service. The camp is basically in the middle of know and is surrounded by native bush, mountains, and tussock, with no civilization in sight.

And during their time at the camp they would have to do there own dishes, and will have to clean their own laundry.(things most kids like us don’t do). Also something in the camp were banned including devices, extra food, aerosol cans(spray on deodorant), pocket knives, even alarm clocks!I think the main idea of this article is to young people like myself off their devices, get them outside, and to teach them essential life skills.

This article is taken places literally in the middle of nowhere, But the location is in . And the surround of where their camp has native bush, mountains, tussock and the camp itself. Not including civilization.

If I were to participate in the challenge of having to go on a camp in the middle of nowhere and having to stay outside with no devices allowed I think I would survive because i’m normally outside and about hanging out with friends and running around outside and when i’m not outside, I just help clean, sit in my room and draw, Or i’ll just read a book or two. And probably eat and go to sleep.

In my opinion I think a lot of young people are addicted to devices and technology because there normally alway on them, But then there are some young people that are outside playing sports and having fun with there friends and family. So I really can’t say that all young people are addicted because not everyone is. There are still a lot of people who are enjoying their time outside and still a lot of people who are on their devices a lot as well. So I think that I shouldn’t assume we young people do because not all of us young people are addicted and you shouldn’t assume either.

If I were to going to Tihoi I think one of the positive things about it will being going somewhere new, And learning more about a curtain places or country. But one negative thing about going to Tihoi is that don’t know anything about the place. I don’t know the story about it or if it is a dangerous and if it is truly safe for me to visit. It will be great to go visiting, But I still don’t know if I will be safe there. Safety always comes first. I know I may be worrying to much but I still don’t know anything about Tihoi.

Persuasive Writing: Should we drink Fizzy Drinks

Today for Writing I was working on my Persuasive Writing. This Persuasive Writing is about "Should we drink Fizzy Drinks" My opinion towards this is that we shouldn't drink fizzy drinks.

WALT: give our opinion towards should we drink fizzy drinks.

Should we drink fizzy drinks?

My opinion is that we shouldn’t drink fizzy drinks because they are very unhealthy and are trying to trick you by the tastes it contains.

My first Reason
Fizzy drinks contain a lots of sugar and caffeine which isn’t go for our system and can course heart and blood problems.

Fizzy drinks can course diabetes from the sugar that was burnt off creating fat. It’s very unhealthy and isn’t good for children that are still growing and are trying to eat healthy.

My Second Reason
Fizzy drinks are not good for our bodies, they contain a drug called caffeine that makes your heart beat faster and can also change your blood pressure which isn’t good for you.

Fizzy drink isn't a great way to keep your teeth clean and healthy. And can ruin people's teeth and eventually fall out.
It can affect your health by all the sugar and fat you are ingesting into your system.

My Third Reason
Fizzy drinks are very unhealthy, you are confusing an unhealthy fluids into your system that can affect your health and body. Fizzy drinks are also a waste of money, when you are able to have a healthier opinion for a drink.

A better opinion than fizzy drinks can be water, ice tea or coconut water that have a bit of sugar but is still healthy for you. Fizzy drinks don’t cost much, but their are other things you can consume that are healthier than fizzy drinks.

My Last Opinion
Should we drink fizzy drinks or should we just stick to the health stuff. Fizzy drinks aren’t health and can be really bad for everyone especially when children are growing their adult teeth. I don’t think we should drink fizzy drinks because it contains sugar and caffeine that isn’t good for your heart, breathing and can affect your sugar levels. Many people have died and gotten diabetes because of the sugar that wasn’t burnt off. Fizzy drinks may taste delicious but you are risking your life towards having diabetes, heart, breathing and sugar level problems.

Maths

Today for Math, each math group were given a problem to solve and answer. The main focus for this is that we had to show how we worked it out, it's not really about the answer.
